NEW LEATHER GARMENTS

LEATHER GARMENTS:Creating emu leather garments is a project that requires basic sewing skills and a heavy-duty sewing machine. Emu leather is soft, supple and breathable and comes in a variety of brilliant colors. The pieces are generally small, so they are best used as small pattern pieces. However, a patchwork effect can work quite well with most garments. If you like this style, follow the steps below to make an emu leather garment.
INSTRUCTION:
1:Choose a pattern for your garment. Find patterns in fabric, craft and hobby stores or on the Internet.
2:Sew pieces of emu leather together to get pieces in the size you need for each pattern section. Make a patchwork quilt-like effect by cutting small same size squares of the leather and sewing them together before cutting out your garment.
3:Remove the pattern from the package and separate the individual pieces for your garment. Pin the pattern pieces to the leather by inserting straight pins in the seam allowances to keep from marring the leather.
4:Cut the leather while pinned to the pattern pieces to the size and shape indicated on the pattern. Remove the pattern template when finished.
5:Stitch along all seam lines following the directions in the pattern envelope. It is possible to sew emu leather by hand, but it is easier to sew with a heavy-duty sewing machine.
6:Make any required button holes. Sew on zippers, buttons or other fasteners. Add nail heads, sequins, feathers or beads by sewing or gluing.
7:Hem the garment by hand or machine as desired.
